Greetings!
As the leaves as Walter Scott are nearing the crescendo of their multi-colored symphony, we have welcomed many folks to our facility over the past month. We have been grateful to host returning family reunions, fishing trips, and personal spiritual retreats alongside volunteers on weekends and weekdays. Before all the leaves grace the ground, we will host our friends from DeColores for their two fall retreats, another workday, and a few other scattered guests as we move into a season of rest for the winter.
While winter means less physical activity on the grounds, it does not mean a cessation of caring for this sacred space. While the goats will switch to hay for the winter, we will switch to a greater focus on administration, policy, and outreach efforts. Much like Creation, it is a mistake to assume that during periods of outward dormancy, that nothing is being cultivated. Less exciting but necessary work is what enables the flourishing of spring; rest itself is vital to Creation, and is vital to us as well.
Peace on the Journey,
