CELEBRATING LESBIAN VISIBILITY DAY
|
On 26 April, IGLTA celebrates lesbian identity and culture on Lesbian Visibility Day, uplifting the lives and contributions of all lesbians, in solidarity with BTQIA+ women and non-binary people around the world. Started in 2008, Lesbian Visibility Day provides an annual platform for lesbian role models to speak out on important issues like stereotyping and lack of representation, and over the years has provided the opportunity for celebrities such as Lena Waithe, Megan Rapinoe and Da Brat to publicly come out. Since 2020, the day has been expanded into Lesbian Visibility Week in the United Kingdom.
