Zoo Miami Mourns the Loss of Beloved Koala, Coedie
|
Zoo Miami is deeply saddened to announce the passing of Coedie, a cherished member of our animal family, who was humanely euthanized earlier today following a rapid decline in health. Coedie, an 11-year-old male koala, had a declining appetite last week. Zoo Miami’s dedicated animal care and veterinary teams closely monitored and cared for him and promptly provided supportive treatment for gastric distress. To enhance his care, Zoo Miami consulted with San Diego Zoo, Riverbanks Zoo, Palm Beach Zoo, and other facilities experienced with koalas—who generously provided gut-supportive resources from their healthy koalas. Last night Miami Dade College (MDC) in a ceremony held at the Wolfson Campus in downtown Miami, bestowed the College’s highest honor, the 2024 Endowed Teaching Chairs, on ten outstanding faculty members.
The Endowed Teaching Chairs program is one of MDC’s most prestigious and valued traditions. Each year, top faculty are selected by their peers for this special award, demonstrating excellence in teaching and commitment to MDC’s mission.
To date, more than 300 MDC faculty members have been recognized since the Endowed Teaching Chairs program was established in 1992. Honorees receive a stipend of $7,500 per year for three years to explore new teaching methods, develop projects and enhance their technological expertise.... Read More
