SEA TURTLES RELEASED FOLLOWING RECOVERY AT ZOO MIAMI |
Yesterday, two juvenile green sea turtles were released at Matheson Hammock Park following their recovery at Zoo Miami’s Sea Turtle Hospital. Estimated to be between 3-5 years old, both individuals were rescued from the Dania Beach Pier after being unintentionally hooked by fishermen. The first individual, named, “Socket,” arrived on July 17th and the second individual, named, “Bolts,” arrived on August 15th. In July of 1948, forty-eight people gathered in South Miami Theatre to form a new church. In 1949 the church moved to it’s first chapel on Red Road ( where the Home Center is now). In 1956 the church was bursting at the seams and purchased the property at 7190 Sunset Drive where a new church was built. It was the first church on Sunset Drive and in 1958 the Miami Herald featured an article about the church calling it the most strikingly modern church in Dade County and in 1961 the church was featured in Florida Architect Magazine for its innovative design... ICYMI: Governor Ron DeSantis Issues Updates on Invest 93L |
Under Governor DeSantis’ leadership, the Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM) continues to monitor and prepare the state of Florida for potential impacts from Invest 93L. Today, Governor DeSantis issued Executive Order 23-171, declaring a state of emergency for 33 counties in anticipation of impacts from Invest 93L. This executive order allows state officials to make critical resources available to areas that may be impacted by the storm. As of 2 p.m. ET, Invest 93L is located near the Yucatan Channel, and is expected to strengthen into a tropical storm in the coming days. Floridians are encouraged to monitor weather conditions and listen to all orders from local officials, as well as review their disaster preparedness plans and stock their disaster supply kits with food, water and other necessities for their households...
