Everglades Foundation launches ‘Everglades EcoQuest,’ to engage kids in, out of school |
The Everglades Foundation, based in Palmetto Bay, has launched the first free web-based learning platform with educational games about the Everglades, called “Everglades EcoQuest.” The digital platform, developed with support from Florida Power & Light Company through its charitable arm, the NextEra Energy Foundation, is designed to teach students about the Everglades’ unique habitats, plants and animals, and ecosystem restoration. The Miami-Dade Public Library system hosted its 2024 Local Author Book Fair on Saturday, Jan. 20, at the Main Library in Downtown Miami. More than 50 area authors came together with artists and others in the publishing business to celebrate the craft and artistry of writing novels, poetry, non-fiction and discuss other book-related topics. The event was well attended by readers, library fans and those interested in writing and being published. There were book readings and signings plus a chance to meet local authors and chat with them and buy their books. Educational Federal Credit Union (EdFed) has launched a new scholarship program for students enrolled in any Adult Education, Technical, and Vocational program within Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS).
