Dear SCC Members:

I am not a member of the Peak Republicans who are asking for a neutral chairman to oversee the reorg meeting in El Paso County, but I fully support their request. That’s because, as a bonus member in El Paso County, I’ve seen for myself that EPC Chair Vickie Tonkins cannot be trusted to run a fair and legal election.

The list of Vickie’s misconduct could run on for pages, but in this email, let’s focus on just one example.

Last year, a judge found that Vickie unilaterally and illegally added at least one unelected delegate to the list of House District 21 delegates. She did this in an attempt to rig the election in favor of her preferred candidate, a convicted felon who was running against an incumbent Republican legislator. The judge ordered a new assembly, which the incumbent legislator won.

You can find an article about the incident here: https://coloradosun.com/2022/04/13/karl-dent-mary-bradfield-revote-ruling/

At the virtual SCC meeting next week, please vote for the motion to appoint a neutral chair to oversee the El Paso County Republican Reorganization Meeting. That’s the only way to ensure a safe and legal outcome.

Sincerely,

Joel Sorensen
