The Jewish Soldier Who Sent Hitler and the World a Message by Willard Shepard, Esq. |
The music is playing and shouts of happy birthday are filling the room. Yes, there are lots of birthdays but this is one most of us will never see. It’s birthday number 105 for Daniel Jacobson. He is the Jewish American soldier who survived his WWII trek fighting Germans, and made history when sending a very personal message about overcoming Adolph Hitler’s atrocities. It was a written message coming from a very unlikely place—- beneath Hitler’s personal letter head.. Read More

Overpriced and Contaminated |
The Miami-Dade County Commission voted on Tuesday to move forward with the purchase of the La Quinta Inn on Caribbean Drive in Cutler Bay. Ron Book, the combative chair of the Homeless Trust spoke forcefully about the need to find a place to house the growing unsheltered elderly population. The process still requires at least one more round of voting by the Commission and the signature or veto by Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. The county will be spending $14 million for the motel, plus another almost$900,000 to retrofit kitchens into the micro spaces. That’s $4 million more for the 107-room motel than the two state-required appraisals claim that th... Read More

EdFed’s Money Tips: Buying a Home in Miami’s Tough Housing Market |
|
Buying a home is one of life’s biggest decisions, and it remains at the heart of the American Dream. Unlike renting, owning a home means more than just having a place to live – it offers a sense of belonging, stability, and freedom. Another report from Rocket Homes disclosed that in March 2024 the median home price in Miami was $540,091, up 6.9% over last year. So with higher mortgage rates and increased prices, is it any wonder why it is so difficult to achieve the American Dream of becoming a homeowner?... Read More

The most compact Mercedes-Benz AMG GLA 35 SUV packs a lot in the back, and even more under the hood. The AMG GLA 35 has 302 turbocharged horses, with a new bonus: hybrid electric boost. That’s a heck of a punch that you can get for just under $65,000. It delivers 22 miles per gallon in the city and 29 miles per gallon on the highway for a combined 25 miles per gallon. I really enjoyed driving this smaller SUV because when you round corners, you really... Read More
