This upcoming March 31, the International Transgender Day of Visibility, IGLTA will be celebrating trans people and their empowering contributions to so many societies across the planet. We also rededicate ourselves to helping to eradicate the discrimination and poverty that still prevent many from living openly as their authentic selves. Founded by Michigan-based trans activist Rachel Crandall in 2009, the International Transgender Day of Visibility (TDOV) was created as a day to uplift all trans lives, a positive response to the media’s largely negative focus on trans violence. In 2021, Joe Biden became the first American president to acknowledge TDOV.
