Lighted outdoor courts at ATC night time

April 2023

President & Vice President

Latest and Greatest
Greetings from El Jefe! I hope this message finds you all in good health (as well as can be expected playing as much tennis as we are at this point) and spirits.
NJTC Membership
I am excited to report that we have had another outstanding year for membership, with over 500 members already! It's great to see so many new faces on the courts and old friends coming back to play. Our club is truly an energetic community of tennis enthusiasts.
Grand Slam Birthday Bash
We are fast approaching the Apex Tennis Center's 5th Anniversary Party, and I can hardly contain my excitement! This is going to be one amazing celebration, with lots of food, drinks, and of course, tennis. Mark your calendars for the big day (June 17th) and make sure to invite your friends and family too.
Volunteers Needed
As we continue to grow and expand, we need volunteers for some important tasks. We are looking for a bookkeeper to help out the treasurer, policy and procedure writers to ensure that we are always operating smoothly, and individuals to assist with the creation of our 5-year plan. We are also recruiting adults who would like to hit with high school students over the summer at the ATC. If you have any expertise or interest in these areas and would like to contribute, please let us know!
A Special Thank You
I would like to extend a special thank you to the Iglesia de Christo Church for allowing us to use their parking lot adjacent to the Alice Sweet courts. We are so grateful for their support and hospitality. Please remember to take extra care when cleaning up after ourselves, so that we can continue to use this wonderful space.
Scholarship Program
NJTC is starting a program to reward college bound high school tennis players for their hard work and dedication - on and off the court! Qualification and application requirements are forthcoming, as we focus on fundraising goals and events.

Thank you all for being a part of the North Jeffco Tennis Club. Together, we are making this a truly exceptional community of tennis lovers. Keep playing and having fun on the courts!
May is National Tennis Month
Tennis is booming and what better way to find yourself in the game than through local special events, promotions and play opportunities through NJTC and the APEX Tennis Center as part of National Tennis Month this May! more here.

Rule Change Reminders
Non-mandatory rescheduling of matches
• If teams agree to reschedule due to a non-mandatory reason, and USTA Colorado finds out, BOTH teams will receive a double default for that match.
• Teams may ask the opposing team to play earlier or later than the scheduled time if it is on the same date. This often occurs when darkness may be an issue and the match is going to be staggered. The opposing team is not required to accept this request.
Mandatory rescheduling of matches
What defines a mandatory reschedule?
• Inclement Weather
• Darkness
• Flight Playoff Conflicts
• League Championship Conflicts
• National Holidays
• League Department Scheduling Conflicts
• Natural Disaster
• Air Quality  (not temperature or wind!)
When is it determined that a match cannot be played? On location at the time the match is supposed to start, even if it seems obvious you still have to show up and wait to see if courts are playable within 30 minutes, unless both captains agree otherwise. Players please don’t pester your captain as they are working behind the scenes on you behalf and will notify you of any changes.
Finally, remember that the ATC has purchased VAPTR court dryers to help you resume play quickly.

Winter is over and The Big Dogs & Tennis Friends Social held on Saturday April 29th was a ton of fun @ the ATC! The 4.0+ players were on the outdoor courts with fast paced sets with the championship match between Meng and Miki vs Brady and Gail. It was great tennis with Meng and Miki winning the gold.
Our 2.5-3.5 Tennis Friends had fun inside with a rotating format so, when they weren’t playing, they came out to the patio for some good food and watched the Big Dogs outside. Thanks to Renee and Jeff, Bill and Nancy, Kim and Jonathan for all their help! A special thanks to Joe Hendricks for bringing the Super Bowl of Tennis to the APEX Tennis Center.
We had a great time at the
Big Dogs & Tennis Friends Social
and we hope that you did too!
