International Transgender Day of Visibility (TDOV), celebrated annually on 31 March, shines a light on the resilience, achievements, and voices of transgender people worldwide. It’s a powerful reminder to uplift those whose gender identity differs from the one assigned at birth while confronting the prejudice many still face today. Established in 2009 by transgender activist Rachel Crandall, TDOV was born from the need to celebrate trans accomplishments and counter the negative media coverage surrounding violence against the community. This year more than ever, IGLTA recognizes the ongoing importance of this day, standing firmly in support of equality, visibility, and justice for all transgender people.
