Cutler Stew band ‘family’ has grown |
Cutler Stew, known in Cutler Bay as “Your Hometown Band,” was formed in 2013 and has steadily grown, both in size and popularity ever since. A high-energy cover band playing a diverse mix of rock, alt rock, country and pop favorites, Cutler Stew has played at Black Point Ocean Grill, Gilbert’s in Key Largo, Café 27 in Fort Lauderdale, Cutler Bay Sports Bar, annual Chili Cook-Off at Cutler Ridge Park and Palmetto Bay’s July 4th celebration, as well as other functions and venues. The most recent addition to the band is Wayne DeMario who joined in July when Raf Fiol, Cutler Stew’s bassist for the past nine years, retired. Be Strong International, an award-winning non-profit organization that serves youth and families in South Florida, coordinated a two-chapter Back to School Strong Initiatives throughout the months of July and August 2023. The purpose of these events was to help as many youths as possible to start the school year strong and well equipped. On one end, Be Strong International coordinated a successful backpack packing event with more than 100 volunteers, who selflessly donated their time to put together more than 1,000 bookbags full of quality school supplies. Governor DeSantis announced that six additional counties have been approved to be included in the Major Disaster Declaration by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), bringing the total to 13 eligible counties. Residents in Citrus, Colombia, Dixie, Gilchrist, Hamilton, Hernando, Jefferson, Lafayette, Levy, Madison Pasco, Suwannee, and Taylor counties can apply for post disaster Individual Assistance at DisasterAssistance.gov.
