Greater Miami Symphonic Band Season ending “Grande Finale” Concert

The Greater Miami Symphonic Band will be performing its final concert of the 2022-2023 season on Tuesday, June 6 at 8 PM at the University of Miami’s Gusman Hall. Music Director Robert Longfield and Guest Conductor Barry Bernhardt, Director of Bands at FIU, will lead the band in an evening of “Out of this World” music. Much of the music will have celestial themes and will be certain to entertain one and all. Dade Heritage Trust Names 2023Preservation Awards Honorees

Dade Heritage Trust recently named 13 honorees at its annual Preservation Awards Ceremony, which took place at the Historic Hampton House in Brownsville on April 20. “The DHT Preservation Awards promote and highlight organizations and individuals for their local achievements historic preservation,” said Christine Rupp, executive director of DHT. “Even in the face of unprecedented development and redevelopment in Miami-Dade County, there are many people who are concerned about saving the historic and cultural assets of our community. As Hurricane Andrew ravaged South Florida in August 1992, one electrical engineer found himself at the epicenter of that historic, catastrophic, Category 5 storm.
