CELEBRATE CARNIVAL IN 2022
Are you looking for travel inspiration this coming February? Why not plan a trip during Carnival, complete with elaborate parades and outdoor celebrations? While Brazil might take the prize in having the world's largest Carnival in Rio de Janeiro, you can also find plenty of other Carnival events across several continents. Outside South America, Germany's North Rhine-Westphalia region hosts large events in Cologne and Dusseldorf. The world's 3rd largest Carnival celebration is not in Brazil but in Nice, located in the beautiful cote d'azur in Southern France. Similar celebrations can be found in Spain, Italy and even Australia, where each year Sydney hosts their annual Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras. You can visit the IGLTA events calendar to see the full list of Carnival and other events taking place in February including a variety of tours and packages from our members. | Image credit: GotoLouisville.com |
WHAT'S OLD IS NEW IN NULU
There are few places left in America that have a unique regional feel. Louisville, Kentucky, founded in 1778, is one of them. It is an amazing city of independent neighborhoods. There is so much to do: walk through Old Louisville to enjoy the collection of old homes, shop in Nulu (the new urban hipster ‘hood just east of downtown), enjoy the independent shops and restaurants (and new local hotel) in the Highlands along Bardstown Road, and experience 4th Street downtown. The city is very LGBTQ+ friendly and reportedly has not one but two Pride events each year. Foodies will love the unique pan-Southern cuisine—lots of fried chicken and bourbon to wash it down.

LGBTQ+ TRAVEL GUIDE TO NEPAL
Nepal is amongst the most progressive countries in Asia for LGBTQ+ people due to several laws giving rights to display one's preferred gender and forbidding discrimination based on sexual orientation. Its people are creating a much safer and welcoming environment than their South-Asian neighbors, which goes well with a saying in Nepal: "Guests are Gods." Upon arrival, you’ll be pleasantly surprised to see the third gender option "other" in your tourist arrival card. Everyone is welcome and respected as long as cultural practices are followed. Nepal has still some way to go, but it certainly is a place anyone from the LGBTQ+ community can visit.
