On August 17, 2023, Miami-Dade Clerk of the Court and Comptroller, Juan Fernandez-Barquin, Esq., commenced a pilot program extending hours of operation at two county court locations to allow working residents the ability to address their court obligations without having to take time off from work. Miami-Dade County Public Schools and education nonprofit Achieve Miami’s Teacher Accelerator Program (TAP) put pen to paper and formalized their partnership through a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signing to tackle the county’s critical teacher shortage. Last year, 50 TAP program graduates were placed in schools, and this year 105 students already are participating in the program.
