| Scientists estimate there are ten billion observable galaxies. Our galaxy has 100 billion stars. If you do the math, that is a lot of stars. I bring that up is because of a verse I read in my devotion about the stars and the heavens in Psalm 8.
David observes the transcendent God's intimate care for His creation. God is mindful of humanity. David finds that incredible. He should. It is. If God cares about humanity, then He cares about David, and if He cares about David, then He cares about you and me. Out of the hundreds of billions of stars, God cares about a 41-year-old father of six, me? God is not distant or disconnected or distracted. He cares!
Too often, I tend to operate on autopilot. What is next? Who do I have to drive, where? What is the most urgent thing on my to-do list? How can I prepare for my next meeting? What is for dinner? Where did I put my keys? I drown in the tyranny of the urgent. While God cares about these details, I think He cares more about me pausing and recognizing that He is God amid the whirlwind of life.
Roughly three thousand years ago, in the Middle East, a shepherd, warrior, and king paused and made this observation about God and preserved it for us to ponder.
Stop with me. Consider David's claim. If God, the Creator, cares for humanity in general, then your life is not an accident. You exist for a reason. Meaning lies behind the chaos. God knows your trials and situations and difficulties. He is aware. The most pointed proof of God's affection for you and I is more amazing than a North Star, it is the crucifixion. Jesus died for the forgiveness of sins and life everlasting. We don't have to live under the weight of guilt and shame, nor pretend they don't exist. God loves you that much. Out of all the matter in this universe, you matter to Him.
Let us practice mindfulness of God's mindfulness. May Psalm 8 inspire your worship, and thanks to Him.

Here is what Dr. Steve Leston (President of To Every Tribe) wrote about my book before the editors got to it.
“I truly enjoyed this fresh look into the last words of Jesus. The challenge that the author puts before us is to take a look at the 7 last sayings of Jesus, for when you do you will see what the Roman Soldier who stood at the foot of the cross saw: that ‘Surely, Jesus is the Son of God!’ In these last words of Jesus we see that hanging on that cross was not just a good man, but the God-man who died to pay the price that God demands for the sin and rebellion of humanity. This book is not just for Easter; it is for everyone to read, reread, and then read again to have your heart and your mind grounded in the awe of the cross. At the core of the Christian message is the cross. For anyone who wants to know why we preach Christ and Him crucified read this book! You will never partake of the Lord's Table the same way again.”
Thanks, Steve! | In the upcoming months, I have the privilege of preaching and teaching at Sawyer Highlands and Converge Community Church.

Prayer Request: Pray: - Continue to pray for the book release (January 2020). I would like it to help the church understand the power of the gospel through meditating on Jesus's last words on the cross. I am seeking some specific endorsements in the coming months.
- Pray for my use of time. I have many freedoms in life and responsibilities. How should I steward them? I need wisdom and strength to do what is best with my time and energy.
