STAY UP TO DATE WITH LGBTQ+ PRIDE EVENTS
|
2020 was an unprecedented year as the coronavirus pandemic swept across the globe disrupting daily life. As most countries went into various forms of lockdown in an effort to curb the spread of the virus, large events and festivals including pride celebrations, marches and demonstrations were canceled. As a response to the mass cancellations, many organizations opted to host virtual events. As 2020 came to an end, many pride events have again been forced the cancel, postpone or go virtual. However, a handful of events in countries like Taiwan, Australia and New Zealand with closed borders and tight control of the pandemic have eased back into near-normal life and are able to again host in-person pride events. You can stay up to date with 2021 events by regularly checking our pride calendar, which is updated monthly.

Although the political climate changes and access is sometimes affected, it's still possible to visit Cuba for many people. Visitors from Canada or Europe can enter easily and Americans can go on an organized, “People to People” tour. Access from Latin America is also generally easier. LGBTQ+ rights and acceptance in Cuba are surprisingly more forward than you’d think for a country that’s been trapped in the past. We sat down with Andres who is based in Havana for a brief interview. As a local tour guide for Out in Cuba, he offers great perspective on visiting this one-of-a-kind Caribbean island. | |
