PSALM 46:1-3 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling.
Where is your refuge? As I reflect, the times of greatest struggle are my times of greatest prayer and dependence on God. When things go well, it is easy to make my effort my refuge. Just wake an hour earlier, make a to-do list, gather one more piece of information.
What happens when all I do isn't enough? What happens when my plans fall apart? What happens when my inadequacy confronts me? My effort is not a great refuge. How about you? Do you tend to rely on yourself? How does that work for you?
As followers of Christ, we serve a God who created the intricacies of the living cell. He knit us together with unique DNA that determines our hair color, skin color, dispositions. Our same creator upholds the laws of nature by the word of His power (Hebrews 1:3). He invented gravity and keeps it working. The diversity of species and the stars and planets are his invention too. When I compare who God is and what He can do to who I am and what I can do, I am astounded that I would ever forget to rely on God. Why do I worry as if everything depends on me? God is my very present help in trouble. Would you agree? May God may be our refuge. He demonstrates his great power and love in Jesus's death and resurrection on our behalf. May you and I not worry as much as we do and trust more and more in Him.

Here is what Gary Rohrmayer, President of Converge MidAmerica, said,
“I find 'Last Words' an excellent resource for every serious student of scripture desiring to wrestle with the last words of our Savior. The book is filled with rich truths, deep meditations, and strong practical applications. Be prepared to think deeply and to be stretched personally.”
