Calling all Patients
Membership and revenue in POCA are low! Eeek! And we have some really cool projects we need volunteers and funds for! So we're tapping on the shoulders of our expired patient membership for support. They might not realize that memberships don't automatically renew! So, (just in time for the membership drive) we're asking clinics to do some ol' fashioned outreach- either pick up the phone or send out some emails to former patient members. Who knows? It might even bring them back into the clinic if they've been gone awhile.
Emily Konstan, from Down to Earth Acupuncture in Worcester, MA., recently lost her mother to lung cancer. Emily has our deepest sympathies.
Michaelann Bewsee is a name worth knowing. She was a champion for social justice in Springfield, MA. For decades, Michaelann worked tirelessly as advocate for rights of the poor and under served, from tenants rights to clean needle exchange. As a teenager, she flipped pancakes at free breakfasts organized by the Black Panthers It makes sense that Emily would put her skills to work as a Community Acupuncturist. It's part of her DNA. Read more about Emily's mother, Michaelann here. Emily shared a poem that her mom wrote in the 1980s about being poor.
POCA Tech Acu-Market Scholarship Program by Noor Khan
The initial two $1,500 scholarships will be available starting September 2019, and all second and third year POCA Tech students are eligible to apply. Our goal is to grow the scholarship program with hopes of covering the full annual tuition cost for two students each year.
We currently offer the following benefits to all POCA members:
Free shipping on orders of 10+ boxes of SMC needles
Acu-Market will have a table at POCA Fest Marin. Please stop by to say “Hi”, and take some samples. If you are not attending POCA Fest and are interested in trying our SMC needles, or if you have any questions, please give me a call at 561-842-2154, or send me an email at [email protected]
Free new ebook - Punking Part Two
POCA has a free new ebook – Punking Part 2: Praxis and the Social Container. It’s a free download. We hope to have hard copies available in the future; please stay tuned.
NCCAOM is soliciting member feedback via a Satisfaction Survey. The deadline is Oct. 1st. With input “we will use this information to help us determine what future services the NCCAOM can provide and how we can better meet your needs.”
POCA Fest weeks away
There are still some openings for POCA Fest in Marin (September 27-29th). Since this is a popular location, sign up soon, since it most likely will sell out.
